- Commemoration of Christ’s Crucifixion: Good Friday is primarily a day to remember the suffering and death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Christians believe that Jesus’ death was a sacrifice to atone for humanity’s sins, offering the possibility of redemption and eternal life.
- Part of the Paschal Triduum: It is the second day of the Paschal Triduum, the three holiest days in the Christian calendar, which also includes Maundy Thursday (the Last Supper) and Easter Sunday (the Resurrection).
